So a giant bomb got dropped on us all by Sony Studios yesterday… the Spider-Man franchise (Raimi’s version of it) has come to a screeching halt. Spider-Man 4 has been canceled, and Sony is going to reboot the franchise with a new director and cast for a 2012 release.
I did this video for AMC Entertainment earlier today and thought I’d share it here. Let me know what you think of it:

Excellent video, John! You should do more of them.
About the Spider-man reboot: I am also NOT interested in having the origin story told AGAIN. I like the idea Vic suggested in the video. I say have them take care of the origin stuff within the first five or so minutes of the movie and be done with it! If Sony decides to reboot with the same origin story, but with a different crew, I simply won’t care for it.
Very cool video, well done. Was great to get all those web opinions in one place.
As for the Spidey reoboot, I have no interest. With another director and even recast but the story going forward, I might have been. But another reboot, origin story, and set in high school holds no appeal. Too soon.
Great work John. You sounded very newscaster-e.
Spider-Man was good while it lasted, and I kind of expected something like this to happen. Everything was falling apart after #3. I agree if they can do the origin TIH-style, they should.
I think overall it’s a welcome idea. The cast never really did it for me, good performances aside. I just hope they can pull it off again.
