Why I Refuse To Buy The “Star Wars” Blu-Rays

SW-BR.jpgAnyone who knows absolutely ANYTHING about me knows that I have been a dedicated Star Wars fanatic my entire life. My earliest childhood memory is of my mom taking me to see the original Star Wars. My first pet’s name was Luke Skywalker. I had Star Wars bed sheets as a kid and if Ann would let me I’d still have them on my bed today.

No, I’m not a big fan of the newer films (Episodes 1,2 and 3), but I like to think I gave them a fair shake and saw them each multiple times in the theatres when they came out.

With that being said… there is no chance in hell I’ll be putting my money down to buy these new Blu-Rays that are coming out. And here’s why:

I need to correct you on something you said on the podcast about replacing puppet Yoda with CGI which is almost right. Lucas changed puppet Yoda in Phantom Menace only while in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi he is still a puppet.

Why do we owe our thanks to George Lucas? We are the customer of his movie. He should thank us for being fans.

When you go to a restaurant and the meal is good, do you “owe thanks” to the chef, or is that what you paid for?

Aren’t the original versions included on the 2006 DVD release.  Each case has both the special editions (from 2004) and the originals.  Although I think the originals might be in 4:3 for some reason.

We’ve never been able to own the original versions shown in theaters. even the very first VHS tapes put out were different than what was shown in theaters.
