Well, for those of you who may not know already, I’ve gone ahead and launched my new movie review and editorial website called “Movie Reviews To Go” which you can find here: www.moviereviewstogo.com
I’ve been needing a place to function as a proper hosting area for my movie reviews and editorials since I was really just making them and throwing them up on either my personal page here or just on my facebook account. I don’t have hunge ambitions for this page (I’m quite happy with my regular full time job with AMC Theaters) but I hope a bunch of my old followers from The Movie Blog will find me again and participate in the discussion there.
So please bookmark and follow my new site. This site will now just function for my “life” stuff, and all my movie stuff will be over at Movie Reviews To Go. Hope to see you there.
I’ve never really thought that a THOR movie was one that could actually work on the big screen. He’s always just seemed too far removed from the “reality” of the other Marvel films we’ve had to date.
The synopsis for THOR reads like this: “Exiled to Earth after his arrogance fans the flames of an ancient conflict, The Mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) of Asgard discovers the meaning of humility when a powerful old foe dispatches a destructive force to crush humanity. Only when the banished prince has defeated an opponent capable of crushing him in battle will he learn what it takes to be a true leader. Anthony Hopkins}, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, and Tadanobu Asano co-star in a comic book adventure from acclaimed director Kenneth Branagh.”
So what did I actually end up thinking about THOR? Well, watch my quick little video review to find out:
Ok, heart attack is behind me, so time to get back to the movie reviews. Today I’m giving you my quick impressions of FAST FIVE, the newest in the Fast and the Furious franchise. See my review below:
Thanks for checking out my Green Hornet Review. I’ve been following this project for years now… mostly with negative feelings in my gut about it, especially when Stephen Chow left the movie back in 2009.
But now The Green Hornet arrives in theatres this coming weekend. Is it worth seeing? Well… check out my video Green Hornet review and find out:
I’ve had a lot of people asking me for my personal top 10 movies of 2010 list, so I thought I’d make it the subject of my last video blog of the year.
As I mention in the video, I’ve generally felt this was a fairly weak year for film… until I started trying to put together my top 10 list. Oh sure, there were a lot of disappointments this year, but as this list will show, there were also a lot of great movies too!
So go ahead and watch my video and see my top 10 movies of 2010 list. Remember, all film is subjective and I’m sure your list will look a little different than mine.
JUMP INTO THE COMMENTS and give me your thoughts after you watch the video.
A couple of weeks back I had a chance to check out a screening for the new Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams film “The Fighter” which is opening in limited release this weekend in select cities and then nation wide the following week.
I’ll let you see the review for yourself below, but just know that the film is FANTASTIC. Christian Bale gives the best performance of the year in my opinion (shame they’re nominating him for Best Supporting Actor instead of Best Actor), it wonderfully directed by David O. Russell and is filled with great themes, rich characters and at the bottom of it all, a very special relationship between two brothers.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is back. I know he doesn’t like to use the nickname “The Rock” anymore… but trust me… “The Rock” is back. He’s bulked back up to the biggest he’s ever been, he’s ditched the Disney family films and he’s ready to kick ass and take names. Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?
